The new year is but days old but the West Hollywood drag world is buzzing over big changes coming on Wednesday nights!

For a while now, Rhea Litre has headlined Ash Wednesdays at The Abbey with a stable team of “hosts” from the drag world, including Dragula’s Loris, Luxury Liaison, Famine and Selena Blackwater.

While things weren’t always happy in this drag paradise over the last few months, Rhea’s four drag hostesses were shocked on Wednesday to receive news that they were being relieved of their duties–hinted at on our Instagram last Wednesday night.

We’re told by one of the queens’ former bestie who also happens to do drag at RAGE and The Abbey that Rhea “wanted to freshen things up,” but few believe that’s the real story.

Nonetheless, for Luxury, Loris, Famine and Selena, there will be, luckily, a few new opportunities to do drag on a Wednesday night with the addition of two new promotions!

Starting on Wednesday, January 17, Monistat will be hosting Hump Day at The Standard Hotel from 7 to 10 PM, calling it “A weekly evening of drag and absurdity.”

Opening night performers include Squeaky Blonde, Wendy Ho and Allusia Allusia.

A week later, the genius behind Micky’s Clique Thursdays, Beau Byron launches “Come to Mama” at Revolver, a later-in-the-evening drag show hosted by Kimora Blac.

Inaugural performers on January 24th include Cake Moss, Barbie’s Addiction, Melissa Befierce and Gia Gunn.

With the launch of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 3, we were expecting the drag drama to pick up, just not so much at the local level like we are seeing in January!

Wishing best of luck to Luxury, Loris, Famine and Selena–here’s to getting new gigs in the new year!
