Southern California’s wildfires hit close to home, prompting local officials to call on West Hollywood residents to prepare for fire danger and register for updates from local authorities.
But even though West Hollywood is so far safe from the wildfires for now, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t impacting our community, which draws people from across Southern California.
On Tuesday when the Creek Fire broke out above Sylmar, in the Northeast San Fernando Valley, one regular customer from Micky’s was forced to evacuate his home and menagerie of animals.
To the rescue was Micky’s bartender Anthony Saldana who opened his residence and took in five rabbits and the rest of the customer’s pets.
“I’ve got a farm at my house,” Saldana joked about the situation.
Even though West Hollywood may not be directly impacted by the fires, our wider community is feeling the effects. And small acts of kindness like this show the strength of our one big family that is West Hollywood.
