The new developments at Sunset and La Cienega are being passed around more frequently than a chicken-legged reality TV actor…After the James Hotel abruptly switched hands just weeks before its scheduled opening, there’s news about the property across the street at 8500 Sunset.
According to the LA Times:
“A just-completed apartment complex on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood has been sold to a Pennsylvania developer that plans to convert the property into a luxury extended-stay hotel.
“The 190 apartments at 8500 Sunset Blvd. are part of a more than $300-million development covering two blocks on the Strip that is expected to also include a separate trendy hotel called “1,” along with stores and restaurants.”
But did they do their due diligence? West Hollywood passed a ban on corporate housing in residential units in 2015 and updated the zone text earlier this year. Or will they be coming to Council to ask permission once they realize it?
